April 10, 2021

Brown is struck by a stray bullet while sitting on the front porch of her home at 19 Olney Street. Her daughter and grandchildren are nearby. Boston religious leaders subsequently announce a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of her killer. In making the announcement, Rev. Eugene River declares, “When a 73-year-old elderly Black woman is murdered sitting on her porch, there must be a reckoning, . . In other communities if a 73-year-old woman, an innocent woman, is murdered on her porch, there would be a communal correction.”
